The New Patriotism

“You’re either with us, or you’re against us.”

“Don’t you love this country?”

“If you truly love America…”

“A true patriot would…”

“If you care about kids…”

“Don’t you care about kids?”

“If you really believe kids come first…”

Education administrators are just as bad as some politicians.

Is this really new though? There was great pressure during World War II to do things such as participating in Meatless Mondays.

Sure, people have been pressured in many ways, but my point is that educators are now attacked with language akin to questioning one’s patriotism.

Along those lines, teachers are selfish (not caring about the kids) by
    1. refusing to take pay cuts
    2. hesitating to pay for even more classroom materials
    3. belonging to unions that protect their jobs
    4. demanding pensions that they paid into and were promised so many years
